Here is the final result of my avatar:

First I went online to find the face mesh template, opened it in PS, and draw what I’m thinking to put onto my avatar. I was stuck at the beginning for a while because there are so much different AR that I could make, but as I’m watching IT, it gives me the idea of maskes.

I drew two masks and thinking about how I can make both of them be seen by people, so I went to Youtube to watch a lot of spark AR tutorials on what it can do.

I know I want to make the masks move when the person opens their mouth, so I specifically looked at how to make the filter move when mouth moves and I did find a lot of interesting videos.

I remembered how to add patch and making the filter move with different facial expression, i started to create the links to make the filters move. It was not a nice time!

In the end I did managed to do what I hoped for, and I did get some help from a friend who is better than me at create filters.

I was inspired by the horror movie ’IT’, it can be anything that children fear of, but under normal circumstances, he normally looks like a clown, only when he’s clear to who’s his target, he will change this look into different thing to scare them and catch them. 

I made two masks for my avatar, one on the outside and one on the inside, the outside one is half black and half white, which I want to suggest that everything has a front and back, therefore we need to be more careful when meeting strangers, I met so many people who trust other people so easily and cause themselves damage. 

The face inside looks more like a human but not quite because I want to make my avatar a scary creature that can be parasitic on humans when people have bad thoughts such as kidnapping. The outside face can look like anything which is also why I made it black and white because these two colours can create any image, everyone can see the difference between them, even colour blindnesses. 

The faces can open from the middle is suggesting it can changes form according to what the person’s thought is, and the inside face is some people may still have their humanity but it’s hard for them to control themselves to not to do what they want. 

This reminds me about a Korean TV series about parasites, they live on people who have strong desire of something, and they will turn the person into to monsters that can allow them to make their wish come true.
